9th Annual Benefit Concert | Featuring Chicago

For the first time in history, a treatment for DMD is more than a dream. We have a very real chance of saving a growing population of boys who share the grimmest prognosis imaginable – to be wheelchair bound by early teens and heart failure by 20.

Your seemingly endless loyalty and support of our Annual Benefit Concert remains the driving force behind the enormous advances of finding a treatment or a cure to stamp for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The proceeds raised from this event will go directly into the hands of those working to make DMD the FIRST childhood illness we eradicate in time to save tens of thousands of kids.

Matt’s Promise Remembers Alan “Ace” Greenberg.

Thank you Ace.

Dear Friends and Supporters: As most of you know, Alan “Ace” Greenberg passed away last week and was laid to rest today. Ace was a unique and extraordinary individual. An icon in the finance world, an unprecedented philanthropist, a devout family man, a gifted leader and an uncommon friend, Ace’s philosophies in business and in life touched and inspired most everyone who knew him. It has been one of the great privileges of my life to be among the many guided by his wisdom and leadership and I am proud and grateful to have called him a mentor and a friend.

Ace was – both directly and indirectly – a persistent and generous supporter of Matt’s Promise. His personal contributions as well as the contributions of hundreds of supporters he inspired have been a driving force behind our successes and it was in recognition of this indelible impact that we were fortunate enough to be able to acknowledge him as the 2014 Honoree at our 9th annual benefit concert just a few months ago. Those who attended the event were able to join us in thanking him and got to see him take the dais one more time.

Ace was truly one of the most impressive people I have ever been lucky enough to know. A man who ALWAYS practiced what he preached, his actions always consistent with his words (in keeping with his adamant instruction to control costs, Ace offered to make his own casket at his Hampton workshop rather than have the family waste money on an ornate one) and somehow – without compromising his devotion to his family, his many passions, commitments and responsibilities – still the hardest working guy around (Alan was in the office answering his phone at the end of last week – he quite literally worked until the day he left us).

Ace’s absence leaves a huge void in our hearts and our lives and his guidance, friendship and loyalty will be missed every day. In keeping with Ace’s no-nonsense approach to things, rather than spend our time mourning his passing, we’ll do our best to celebrate his memory, embrace his lessons and carry on with our mission (or as Ace would put it – “get back to work!”). But it sure won’t be easy.

Please join me and all of us at Matt’s Promise in extending our deepest condolences to Ace’s family and loved ones and in saying thank you to our loyal supporter and friend, the Chairman of the Board – now and forever.

We love you Ace. We’ll miss you.
Rest in peace.
