Matt’s Promise is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young people affected by terminal illnesses. Our commitment, through select funding of treatment, research, education, and support programs, is to advance the fight against these diseases and to assure the most comprehensive, innovative, and compassionate care.
The cornerstone project of Matt’s Promise is to find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). While receiving treatment for his own terminal disease, then 33 year old Matt Weiderkehr learned that Charley, the son of his childhood best friend, was diagnosed with this dreadful and devastating disease. The news hit Matt hard, and he was determined to do all that he could to help. He immediately jumped into action and made his “Promise” to ensure Charley and all the other young boys with DMD receive the best medical care and emotional support available and to fund research to find a cure.
